The St. Lawrence County Historical Association will hold a chair caning workshop March 6, 13 and 20.
CANTON -- The St. Lawrence County Historical Association, 3 East Main St., will host a chair caning workshop Wednesdays, March 6, 13 and 20 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Carl Stickney will instruct participants in how to recane a chair that needs a new seat.
Chairs missing a seat, with holes around the inner edge of the chair seat are appropriate for caning.
Bring your own chair, or purchase one from the association for a fee.
The workshop fee is $48 for historical association members and $58 for nonmembers.
Caning materials will be included in the cost of the workshop, but scissors, an awl, a paring knife, a few clothespins, a rag and a small water container should be brought from home.
