MASSENA -- Long Sault Archery will host the 31st St. Lawrence Bowfishing Championship June 17-19 at a new location, the Amvets Riverfront Campground on County Route 42, the Fregoe Road.
First place prize is $1,000 cash, second place $750 cash and third place $500 cash. Several other prizes will be awarded based on the number of registrants.
Last year’s event welcomed 208 registered bowfishing men, women and children. The winner, Chad Guay of Lancaster, Ont., landed a 40.35-pound carp.
Anyone wishing to register can do so by midnight, Friday, June 17 or online via PayPal, by Thursday, June 9 at www.stlawrencebowfishing.com. Mail-In registrations must be postmarked by June 8. Registrations cost $30 per person.
Final weigh-in of carp is 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 19.
Net proceeds from the event are donated back to community outdoor youth programs.
