CANTON -- Canton Pee Wee Football is preparing for their season and is signing up players entering kindergarten through sixth grade.

The program includes no-contact flag football for K-2 kids, and tackle for third- and fourth-grade “minors” and fifth- and sixth-grade “majors” at the Canton Central football practice fields.

The fees are, for flag, $25, and for majors and minors, $50 for one child, $80 for two from a family, and three or more from the same family, a maximum of $100. Scholarships are always available for those with a financial need. Contact Commissioner Bill Porter, wporter@ccsdk12.org, 212-1789 or 386-8561 ext. 321.

Commissioner Porter says it is important to understand that the boys playing majors and minors must be phased in to full pads and contact.

The Punt, Pass and Kick Competition is set for Sept. 24 at noon, sponsored by the Canton Recreation Department.

During the season, parents will be asked to provide baked goods, take pictures, work concessions and support the team by performing tasks such as game-day chain crew.

Football is an expensive game, and financial support for the youth program is always appreciated. Contributions can be made to CPWA, checks marked “Football,” and mailed to 99 State St., Canton, NY, 13617, c/o Bill Porter.
