Canton Frozen Foote series takes on new format

CANTON — The 2021 Frozen Foote season will begin Dec. 12 and will be a virtual series.

Traditionally, participants would meet in front of Appleton Arena at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning on the second Saturday of the month in December, January, February and March to run an out-and-back loop on Miner Street Road. This year will be different, as Appleton is closed to the public and public gatherings bring a risk of spreading the coronavirus.

Here is how it will work this year. The second weekend of the month, beginning in December, participants can select a 4-mile course of their own.

People can run, walk or do a combination and record their time. Then, visit the address below to record your name, age, email address and time.  We will compile the results and share them with area media outlets. Photos of participants racing can be shared on the Stillman Foote Club Facebook page.

In February, race officials will publicize information about how to order a participant t-shirt. Each person who submits results in December, January and February and commits to completing their fourth race in March may order a long-sleeved Frozen Foote 2021 T-shirt.  Orders may be placed between Feb. 13-20. Shirts may be picked up at Brewer Bookstore on SLU campus on or after March 13. Participants who live further afield in Canada or in other states may also choose to have shirts mailed to them.

This year the series includes the following weekends: Dec. 12-13, Jan. 9-10, 2021, Feb. 13-14, 2021 and March 13-14, 2021.
