Canton Free Library offering games, story hours, reading/writer groups

CANTON -- Start off the New Year by attending the many programs offered at the Canton Free Library, including games, story hours, reading and writer groups.

• Baby Storytime for babies up to 18 months; meets Tuesday mornings 10-10:45 a.m; early literacy activities, social/play time with puzzles, toys and building blocks; no registration needed.

• Toddler Storytime for toddlers 18-35 months old; meets Mondays 10:30-11 a.m.; books, music, and movement; registration required for each 4-week session.

• Preschool Storytime for 3-5 year olds; meets Wednesday mornings 10:30-11:15 a.m.; books, flannel board stories, songs, fingerplays, movement, and crafts; no registration is needed.

• Books and Beyond for K-2nd grade meets one Tuesday a month 3-4 p.m; monthly themes with books, activities, games and art; registration required by Friday before the program: email vwhite@ncls.org or call 315-379-0434 ext. 4.

• Junior Writers Group for ages 8-12; meets the second and last Thursday 3:30-4:50 p.m.; no registration needed.

• Bored Gamers for all ages to play board games meets second and fourth Saturdays 12-5 p.m.

• Gaming Club for teens to play video, board and role-playing games meets Mondays at 3-5 p.m.

• Gaslands meets second and fourth Wednesdays 5-8 p.m. for tabletop game of played with toy cars. No registration required.

• Teen Anime Club for ages 13-19 meets Fridays 5-7 p.m. for fans of Japanese animation.

• Chess Club meets Mondays from 5-7 p.m.; all ages and levels of experience welcome. For details: Tim Nolan 315-854-0929.

• Stitchuationists, adult knitting and stitchery club meets Wednesdays, 6– 8pm. All are welcome with mini-lessons and beginner's help available.

• Adult Writers group meets the second and last Monday of the month, 6-8 p.m. No registration is required.
