CANTON – The St. Lawrence County Dairy Princess Pageant will take place Saturday, April 28 at Sergi’s Restaurant, 31 Main St., and candidates to serve as princess and dairy ambassadors are now being accepted.

Single women age 16 to 21 with a dairy background or a connection to the dairy industry are invited to compete for dairy princess. Girls age 13 to 15 are eligible for the Dairy Ambassador Program to assist the princess in carrying out her duties.

Interested girls and their parents are invited to an informational night 7 p.m. Thursday, April 5 in the classroom at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Learning Farm, NYS Hwy. 68.

The 2012-13 dairy princess and her court will be crowned at the April 28 pageant. The event will start at 6 p.m. with a punch and cheese reception, followed by a buffet of ziti, meatballs, chicken, potatoes, vegetables, salad, rolls and beverages.

The newly appointed court will appear in the annual Dairy Princess Parade in Canton June 2.

The 2012-13 dairy royalty will promote the dairy industry through speaking engagements and appearances at schools, in parades, before civic groups, at fairs and festivals, and with the media. The princess will have an opportunity to attend a training seminar to learn more about dairy promotion, public speaking and interacting with the public.
