TUPPER LAKE – Build a Greener Adirondacks (BAGA), a day-long conference and vendor expo returns to The Wild Center Thursday, March 21 from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
BAGA educates local builders, contactors, architects, code officials and engineers about the latest in energy and cost savings of green building practices and products.
This year, the focus shifts to the qualitative aspects of green building: health, wellness and comfort.
Registration for the event costs $50 and includes lunch and beer sampling from Raquette River Brewing.
More details, registration, vendor and sponsorship info can be found at wildcenterbaga.org or by calling 518-359-7800.
Extensive break-out sessions include topics on effective marketing practices, green building and codes, air sealing, passive houses, and sourcing healthy materials and products.
Registrants are also welcome to Wild Center green facility and pellet boiler tours, climate change science discussions and opportunities to join Wild Center Naturalists to get up-close with wildlife.
Featured speakers include Kevin Stack of Northeast Building Consulting who will facilitate a conversation about the opportunities and responsibilities builders have in the Adirondacks to meet the challenges posed by intensifying global environment change and Mike Phinney of Phinney Design Group who will focus on the health and wellness benefits of green design.
New this year, thanks to a partnership with U.S. Green Building Council New York Upstate, BAGA is offering attendees the opportunity to earn continuing education credits.
BAGA is made possible by Phinney Design Group, Raquette River Brewing and U.S. Green Building Council New York Upstate.
