CANTON -- There will be an American Red Cross blood drive on Tuesday, Sept. 28 and Wednesday, Sept 29, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in SUNY Canton’s Dana Hall gymnasium.
According to the Red Cross, there is a looming shortage of blood types most needed by patients. They are calling on eligible donors with type O negative and O positive blood to give now to help avoid an emergency.
The college strongly encourages donors to sign up for an appointment in advance using the Red Cross Blood Donor mobile application, or by visiting the Red Cross website. Outside visitors will need to adhere to SUNY Canton’s COVID-19 protocols. Masks or face coverings must be worn inside all campus buildings.
College sorority Alpha Chi Omicron Inc. will be hosting the fall blood drive with members helping with organization and registration. Student clubs and Greek organizations volunteer to help ensure the drives are successful.
