Author Gish Jen to speak, read work at SLU Feb. 10

CANTON - Gish Jen, author of four novels and the story collection "Who's Irish?" will speak and read from recent work in an appearance at St. Lawrence University on Thursday, Feb. 10, at 8 p.m. in the Common Room of Sykes Residence Hall.

The event, part of the St. Lawrence Writers Series, is open to the public, free of charge.

Her stories have appeared in The New Yorker, the Atlantic and The New Republic, and have been reprinted in numerous textbooks and anthologies, including The Best American Short Stories of the Century.

Named one of the eight most important contemporary American women writers by critic Elaine Showalter, Jen is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
