POTSDAM – The St. Lawrence County Arts Council has both new and continuing yoga classes in September.
• Gurumantra Kaur continues to offer kundalini yoga: M, W, F, 9-10:30 a.m.; Tu & Th, 7-8:30 a.m; Tu 7:15-8:45 p.m. Kundalini yoga is a complete science that includes breath, yoga postures, sound, chanting and meditation. $66 for 6 classes, $120 for 12 classes, or $180 for 18 classes.
• Yoga for Your Health, Part 1, with Terry de la Vega, Wednesdays, Sept. 15-Oct. 20, 6:30-8 p.m. Taught in the Kripalu yoga style, this class is excellent for those who are new to yoga, those who have practiced in the past and want to get back to yoga, and anyone who prefer a gentle, meditative type of class. Class fee: $66 for 6 weeks.
• Managing Stress through Yoga, with Monique Christensen, Saturdays, Sept. 18-Oct. 23, 10:30-11:45 a.m. Techniques used will engage the muscular and structural systems, while balancing and stimulating the glandular, digestive, circulatory and nervous systems. Class fee: $66 for 6 weeks.
For all yoga classes, students should wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat, small towel, a light blanket or shawl, a bottle of water and a yoga cushion or pillow.
Classes will be held in the Dance Studio (Room 230), Downtown Snell Hall in Potsdam.
