POTSDAM – Carolyn Schwarz will present “An Anthropological Encounter with the Adirondack Trail Crew,” a lecture related to research she did for a recent exhibit at Traditional Arts in Upstate New York Thursday, Nov. 11, at 5 p.m. at SUNY Potsdam's Weaver Museum.
Schwarz, who is an assistant professor of anthropology at SUNY Potsdam, curated “Sacred Tools: The Work and Spirit of the Adirondack Trail Crew,” an exhibit that examined the people, tools, and traditions of the hard-working teams that maintain wilderness trails in the Adirondack and Catskill parks.
In the lecture, Schwarz will compare her research time with the trail crew with the doctoral fieldwork she did in aboriginal Australia.
The exhibit will remain on display at the Weaver Museum through the fall semester.
