Annual winter festival planned in Fine, Clifton, Star Lake, Wanakena this weekend

CLIFTON/FINE - The 2023 Adirondack White Out Winter Weekend, the annual winter festival traditionally held on President's Day Weekend in the Western Adirondack towns of Clifton and Fine, will be Friday, Feb. 17 and Saturday, Feb. 18.

The celebration includes outdoor recreation, music, arts and food.

This event is put on by 100% volunteer efforts and the generosity of sponsors, donations and fundraising proceeds.

Adirondack WhiteOut Weekend is a subcommittee under Clifton Fine Economic Development Corporation, a 501c3 nonprofit.

The schedule of events includes:

Friday, Feb. 17

Dusk-7 p.m., snow bowling, Black Waters Cafe, Wanakena;

Dusk-10 p.m. woodland walk ice luminaries. Trail connecting Black Waters Cafe to

2nd Street, Wanakena;

6-9 p.m., open air open mic, Otto's Abode, Wanakena;

ALL NIGHT, snow croquet & campfire, Otto's Abode, Wanakena;

Dusk-10 p.m. labyrinth fairy village, S. Shore Rd., Wanakena;

Saturday, Feb. 18

8 a.m.-10:30 a.m., Bigfoot Pancake Challenge, UB's Mercantile, Oswegatchie;

8 a.m.-10:30 a.m., sugar on snow, UB's Mercantile, Oswegatchie;

9 a.m.-4 p.m., drop-in craft & jigsaw puzzles, Adirondack Exhibit Center, Star Lake;

10 a.m. and 2 p.m., snowshoe loop, Adirondack Exhibit Center, Star Lake;

10 a.m.-4 p.m., warm up station, Adirondack Exhibit Center, Star Lake;

9 a.m.-4 p.m., chicken noodle soup, Adirondack Exhibit Center, Star Lake;

10 a.m.-2 p.m., book sale, bake sale, rummage sale, Community Center, Star Lake;

12 p.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m., storyteller, The Cremation of Sam McGee, Community

Center, Star Lake;

11 a.m., frying pan toss competition, American Legion, Star Lake;

6 p.m.-CLOSE, free jukebox, American Legion, Star Lake;

1-4 p.m., Common Thread Quilts open house, quilting demonstration, projects & sale, Western Adirondack Presbyterian Church, Star Lake;

ALL DAY, Labyrinth Fairy Village, S. Shore Rd., Wanakena;

ALL DAY, snow croquet and campfire, Otto’s Abode, Wanakena;

6:30-8 p.m., contra dance with live music, Cranberry Lake Fire Hall;

6:30-10 p.m., chili & cornbread, hot chocolate, Cranberry Lake Fire Hall;

8:15-10 p.m., Knotty Paddy concert, Cranberry Lake Fire Hall;

6:30-11 p.m., bonfire, Cranberry Lake Fire Hall;
