MASSENA — The Alpha film series is again being held in Massena beginning Sept. 21. Open to anyone who is searching for meaning and asking the big questions in life, Alpha is an opportunity to explore life and the Christian faith in a friendly, open and informal environment. It is non-denominational and free, however registration is requested, either prior to or at the event.
Developed as a short course in England, it was found that many people outside of the church wanted to explore the Christian faith. Alpha now often runs in churches, bars, coffee shops and homes all around the globe. Typically, there are around ten sessions which include food, a short talk and a discussion at the end. It is a safe place where everyone is welcome regardless of faith or background, exploring the big questions without fear of judgement.
Sylvie Marion, a member of the Alpha team since its initial launch in Massena said, “We’re really excited to be offering the Alpha series again. This is our eighth session in the last 5 years, and it’s been a life-changing experience for many of our participants.”
This fall, two separate sessions will run simultaneously. Participants can choose either Tuesday evening or Saturday morning sessions. Tuesdays will begin Sept. 21 from 6 to 8:30 pm, and Saturdays begin Sept. 25 from 9 to 11 am. Both are offered at St. Mary’s Social Hall, 7 Sycamore Street in Massena. Child care will be provided for young families.
