The St. Lawrence County branch of New York State American Association of University Women has rescheduled its celebration of National Women and Girls Sports Day for Feb. 9.
The winter storm this week had its effect on the local celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day. But the event, sponsored locally by the St. Lawrence County Branch, is rescheduled for next Wednesday, Feb. 9 in area schools.
Coordinator and branch Communication Chair Donna Seymour said, "The school children all look forward to wearing their sports shirts that show off the physical activities they enjoy. Rather than cancel the fun, we've asked local schools to hold any events they had planned next week."
"Play, Believe, Achieve" is the 2011 poster theme for NGWSD. The St. Lawrence County Branch distributed posters to all the public schools in Section 10, the four area colleges, and the public libraries in the area.
