Kaitlyn Marie Lawrence, formerly of Canton, and David Lawrence Smith, formerly of Potsdam, are engaged to be married.

Kaitlyn is the daughter of Stuart and Michele Lawrence of Canton. She is a 2011 graduate of H.C. Williams Senior High School and a 2015 graduate of Green Mountain College in sustainable agriculture. She is now a local foods educator at the Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County.

David is the son Elaina and Charles Smith of Potsdam. He is a 2011 graduate of Potsdam Central High School and a 2015 graduate of St. Lawrence University in environmental studies and geology. He is employed as a GIS technician at the Development Authority of the North Country.

The couple now resides in Theresa. They have not set a date for the wedding, as they are focusing on graduate school and their careers.
