Colleen Marie Downing and Thomas James MacKay, both of Madrid, are engaged to be married.

Colleen is the daughter of David and Debora Downing of DePeyster. She is a graduate of Heuvelton Central School and holds a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and psychology from SUNY Potsdam. She also holds a master’s degree in special education from SUNY Potsdam. She is currently employed as a high school special education teacher at St. Lawrence Central School.

Thomas is the son of Thomas and Carole MacKay, also of DePeyster. He is a graduate of Heuvelton Central School. He is currently employed by the state department of corrections.

The couple is planning an August 2013 wedding in Ogdensburg.
