OGDENSBURG — St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union is expanding its field of membership into an additional 11 counties (Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Hamilton, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Oneida, Oswego, and Warren).

The Credit Union, originally established in 1954 for the employees of St. Lawrence State Hospital and their families, currently serve one county (St. Lawrence). Its membership includes organizations and anyone who lives, works, worships, or studies in those counties.

“St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union has always made its mission to serve the community by providing added value, personalized service, and increased flexibility; benefits that a lot of the bigger financial institutions can’t and don’t provide,” stated Todd Mashaw, President & CEO, St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union. “Our slogan, ‘Where People Are Worth More Than Money’, serves as a reminder that we are not in a money business, we are in a people business and our Members are our number one priority,” added Mashaw.

While the credit union will be expanding into new areas, products and individualized service will not change, a press release said. “St. Lawrence plans to maintain its small, neighborhood-oriented appeal, along with providing both traditional and technology-driven products and services – all at a reasonable cost and with the same hometown service existing Members have come to know and appreciate.”

“We couldn’t be more excited about bringing the St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union’s mission to new communities and look forward to adding more satisfied Members into the St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union family”, stated Mashaw. “We have all the technology our Members need, paired with hard working employees providing outstanding face-to-face service. We will continue to spread this model wherever we expand”.

St. Lawrence FCU enlisted the help of CUCollaborate LLC to add the rural district to their existing field of membership. CUCollaborate provides a field of membership consulting services to help credit unions expand their field of membership with their regulator.
