MADRID — The St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce’s Craft, Food & Wine Show will again take place in an outdoor setting this year.

The show, which is planned for Sept. 25, will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the St. Lawrence Power & Equipment Museum, 1755 State Highway 345. There is a $10 parking fee.

The biggest shopping show in the North Country has typically been held at Clarkson or SUNY Potsdam, but moved to an outdoor setting last year due to the pandemic.

St. Lawrence County Chamber Director of Tourism Brook Rouse said the new venue provides some benefits and appeal that an inside show does not.

“The museum is centrally located (in St. Lawrence County) and is a cool attraction that many people don’t even know is there,” she said.

The museum will have volunteers manning exhibits and attractions such as The Fort, the blacksmith shop and schoolhouse. All of that is dependent on volunteers.

“The streets and buildings create a cool atmosphere,” Rouse said.

She said that the outdoor show provides an “open air market feel” that also allows for minimal COVID-19 guidelines.

People should socially distance themselves from others, but masks are not required.

The museum also will host concessions and proceeds will benefit the organization.

Rouse added that vendors have been given extra space as a precaution to them, and the customers. The large outdoor space can accommodate this move easily.

Families are encouraged to bring wagons so they can travel the grounds and keep track of their purchases and belongings.

More than 50 vendors are planned to attend. The event will includes the following vendors: Cat House Designs by Melanie Kimbler-Lago, Bee Art Shop, Margaret Tiernan, The Nut Shop, Grasse River Hemp, Purses and Key Chains, Chipman Woodworks, Whatknots By Liz, Keith Young Knives & Engraving, Rock Hollow, Fauna on Flora, Homemade Cabin Soaps, 3 Spoiled Sisters, EF High School Exchange Year, Designs by Sandy, 'EmBears and Luff Farms

Also attending are Froats Farm, My Dear Designs Co., Font It Designs, 2 Mama Birds at the Nest, Craft Designs by Doug, Eye Candy, My Corner Studio, Aspen Tree Farm, SLC Arts, Natural Nook, Kiboda Designs, Little mud puppy crafts, River Myst Winery, AD Designs & Signs, Renee's Crafts, Junkchique, The Gallery at Lake St. Lawrence Arts and Loonflower.

The exhibits at the museum focus largely on the 19th and first half of the 20th centuries. The museum includes nearly 30 buildings and supporting facilities. Attractions include steam engines, old tractors and a blacksmith shop.

The event is being held as part of the North Country Arts Festival.
