CANTON -- The St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce on March 15 will honor a person and a business with annual awards.
Rita Ostrander, who runs Ostrander Bed and Breakfast in Canton, will be honored with the “Chamber Appreciation” award. This award is “presented to an individual or organization that has gone above and beyond to ensure the well being of the Chamber, its mission and members. Although their efforts are not always seen by members of the public, the board and staff recognize their efforts as being essential to the forward motion of the organization,” the chamber said in a news release.
Jack Backus of Mort Backus and Sons, Inc, Ogdensburg will be honored with the “Chamber of Commerce Day” Award. This award is “presented to a board member who shows a special interest in the well being of the Chamber and St. Lawrence County as a place to live, work and play. As the old saying goes..’ A chamber of commerce day’ is a ‘very pleasant day with no weather concerns’. This board member has a positive attitude, and contributes beneficially to making our organization and this County as ‘blue skied and sunny’ as it can be!” the chamber release said.
The awards will be given at the chamber’s membership breakfast meeting on Thursday, March 15, held at the Best Western University Inn in Canton.
Attendees are invited to arrive at 8 a.m. for breakfast and meeting program, which is expected to end at 9:30 a.m. A $20 admission fee includes what the release calls “an old country breakfast” of cinnamon French toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, coffee, tea, and juice. The event is open to member businesses and friends. Reservations are required. To reserve seats, call Jo Ann Roberts at 315-386-4000 or email Jo@SLCchamber.org. Online registration a payment is available on www.SLCchamber.org.
