Small business workshops planned Sept. 15, 22 in Brasher Falls
BRASHER FALLS — The Badenhausen Reading Room will be hosting two events in conjunction with the SUNY Canton Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to share useful information for early-stage and aspiring entrepreneurs in the Tri-Town area.
"The Reading Room's goal is to bring more programming to the community," Tina Hartigan, Director of the Badenhausen Reading Room.The first program, “Starting Your Small Business,” will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 15.
In this session, SBDC Business Advisor Michelle Collins will discuss the business start-up process and things to consider before taking the leap.
Topics will include being prepared for entrepreneurship, types of business ownership, business planning, compliance, and business funding.
“This will be a good starting point for anyone who is considering starting a small business but doesn’t know where to begin,” Collins said.
A second program, “Basic Financial Statements for Small Business,” will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22.
In this session, Collins will discuss why financial management is important, the difference between cash and profit, profit & loss statements, cashflow statements and basic cash management strategies.
Understanding basic financial management and financial statements is the key to growing a successful business,” Collins said. “If your business is relatively new or you’re planning on starting a business this is a chance to gain that understanding to better manage your business.”
Both events are free of charge and will include time for Q&A.
