Sales tax collection for St. Lawrence County, year-to-date, is even with the same period last year, but collections for July went down compared to July 2019.
The Office of the Comptroller says the county took in $33.7 million for January through July 2020 and for the same time period last year.
The comptroller said July sales tax collections for 2020 totaled $4.6 million, down from $5 for July 2019.
To the east, Franklin County saw a 2.3% increase in their sales tax collection year to date. They received $14 million last month, up from $13.7 million in July 2019. The county’s July total dropped 12% from $2.1 million in July 2019 to $1.9 million in July 2020.
To the west, Jefferson County saw a 3.8% decrease in year-to-date collections. They received $42.1 million for January through July 2020, down from $43.7 million for January through July of last year.
Their July 2020 sales tax collection went down 15.3% from $7.3 million in July 2019 to $6.2 million last month, the comptroller’s report said.
