TUPPER LAKE -- Hoping to get ideas on how to promote fishing opportunities along the corridor, the Raquette River Blueway Corridor Initiative is inviting anglers of all types to a meeting May 9 in Tupper Lake to share their knowledge and explain their experiences.
“Go Fish- Luring Anglers to the Raquette!” is the theme of the Raquette River Blueway Corridor’s second annual Networking Meeting, to be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Wild Center in Tupper Lake.
They are especially hoping to hear from individuals, businesses and organizations that hold fishing tournaments, conduct stocking programs or stage educational activities along the corridor, who can give their views on the state of fishing along the Raquette and help brainstorm ideas for working together to support and promote regional angling activities.
The May 9 meeting will also provide an open forum for discussing issues and obstacles that may be forcing river communities along the Raquette to take a back seat to other fishing destinations.
Anyone interested in attending the forum should contact Jim Murphy at jmurphy@vi.potsdam.ny.us to receive a registration form. Anyone interested in participating in this year’s Networking Meeting should RSVP by April 29.
