Price Chopper, which operates stores throughout the North Country, is issuing a recall on papayas from Mexico.
They say this is "due to an emerging national outbreak of salmonella on papayas from Mexico, confirmed by both the CDC and FDA."
The store says they have removed all affected products from and are advising customers to discard whatever potentially contaminated papayas they may have in their homes.

Many of the customers who purchased these items have already been contacted through Price Chopper’s SoundBite notification program, which uses purchase data and consumer phone numbers on file in connection with the company’s AdvantEdge (loyalty) card to alert those households that may have purchased the product in question,. according to a news release from Price Chopper
