CANTON – A Potsdam man has just put up a beta version of his marketing web site and has opened a storefront on Main Street in Canton.
Craig Basford has been working on the web site, nnymarketplace.com, and Monday loaded an advanced test version, known as a beta version, of the site for people to try out before final changes.
“People can take a look, experiment, and suggest changes,” Basford said.
Basford intends the site to be a business directory, “what local consumers would like to see, a simple convenient search tool” to services and products in the North Country.
The storefront, NNY Marketing and Creative Workshop at 109 Main St., is open now, for a soft opening, working out the kinks before an official opening.
“People can come in and talk about their marketing and advertising needs,” and he will design a program for them, possibly sub-contracting with photographers and copywiters.
For the web directory, he plans two levels of listings, a free but limited listing, and a more comprehensive service with links to special pages on the advertiser’s site.
“For example one service we could offer to a flower shop at this time of year would be to direct people to a page with roses and special promos.”
“I’m in business to promote other local businesses in northern New York,” Basford said.
