OGDENSBURG -- Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center has hired Dr. Fozia Bakshi, for its medical staff.
Bakshi, a pediatrician, is seeing patients at the Canton Health Center, 39 West Main Street. Appointments can be made by calling 379-4700.
Bakshi most recently practiced in Ridgewood, New Jersey, where she was on the staffs of Valley Hospital and Bergen West Pediatrics Center for 15 years.
Bakshi received her medical degree from Khyber Medical College, Peshawar, Pakistan, and completed a pediatric residency at New York Cornell Methodist Hospital, Brooklyn.
Bakshi is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
“Becoming a pediatrician was a calling to me and one of my goals is to practice in a medically underserved area,” Bakshi said.
“This area appealed to me, my husband and our family of four children. I am looking forward to serving this community and to better meet its needs.”
Bakshi resides in Canton with her family. Her interests include hiking, reading, cooking and growing a vegetable garden.
