CANTON – The first Bees and BeeKeeping Workshop for Novices in early February was so popular that a second is set for March 2 at 7 p.m. in the Unitarian Universalist Church, 3 ½ Main St. All are welcome and there is plenty of room.
Mark Berninghausen of Squeak Creek Apiaries will show bee hive boxes and answer questions about bees and beekeeping. This workshop is geared to the novice level.
RSVP by email is appreciated but not necessary. Write to SustLivingProject@gmail.com or call 347-4223 for information. A donation of up to $10 is requested.
Also, a new monthly Bees and Beekeeping Discussion Group will meet on the fourth Wednesday of the month in Canton, starting on Feb. 23, for novice to advanced levels and those wishing to attempt all-natural hives, but attendance at the March 2 workshop is recommended first if you are new to beekeeping. Members of the Empire State Honey Producers Association will be on hand to guide the sessions. A pass-the-hat small donation is requested of participants. RSVP's are required for the discussion group. Call Roger Stevenson at 714-2294 to reserve your spot.
