OGDENSBURG -- Ogdensburg City Council has modified the city code to allow for dining and alcohol sales on outside public areas.
Following two public hearings the council moved two resolutions to make its temporary outside dining and alcohol sale allowances for restaurants more permanent.
The first resolution exempts outdoor public areas used by restaurants from the open container law.
The second resolution eases restrictions related to city owned property in front of restaurants to allow outdoor dining tables as long as they don’t restrict pedestrian traffic.
Recently the council allowed such activities under a temporary basis, but this change should allow restaurants to serve food and beverages outside into the future.
