MASSENA — North Country Nursing and Rehabilitation, formerly known as Highland Nursing Home, recently completed a major upgrade to its facilities.

The 140-bed facility provides care for the elderly, and those in need of physical therapy, chronic care, and pain management. It is a fully accredited nursing and rehab facility specializing in physical therapy and occupational therapy.

Located at 182 Highland Ave., the facility has a set of core values that define their culture, according to Administrator Daniel Brencher.

Staff at North Country Nursing and Rehabilitation pledge to provide the highest quality care and services to the residents, he says.

Bencher says the principals that define the culture include:

• H- Hard Work- We understand and are committed to the emotional and physical strength necessary to provide quality care every day to our residents.

• I- Intelligence- We understand and are committed to the emotional intelligence needed to selflessly provide quality care every day to our residents.

• G- Gratitude- We understand and are committed to showing gratitude to the seniors that we take care of as we acknowledge and celebrate their lives and contributions to our society.

• H- Honor- We honor one another and ourselves for committing to the hard work necessary to take care of those that have lost the ability and freedom to care for themselves.

• L- Longevity- We encourage a workplace that allows and celebrates our coworkers that have shown the physical and emotional strength to perform their duties over a long period of time.

• A- Attitude- We have and promote a positive attitude in order to foster a work atmosphere that is supportive and nurtures teamwork essential to providing good care.

• N- Nicety- We recognize and promote mutual respect in all of our dealings in order to provide the positive work environment needed to provide outstanding care.

• D- Desire- We recognize and celebrate the inner ambition of those who are committed to the noble work of helping others.
