A second free paper has stopped publishing in St. Lawrence County due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The North Country Shopper has ceased publishing for the foreseeable future and failed to distribute papers as usual late last week.
On its website, the North Country Shopper pledged to “get back up and running as soon as it is safe to do so.”
Earlier, the St. Lawrence County Free Trader announced in its March 26 edition that it would cease publishing.
They cited a loss in advertising after many local “non-essential” businesses closed following state mandates. They said they made “every effort” to remain open and continue printing the paper, but it was not financially viable.
