POTSDAM — The new Verizon Wireless Zone has opened at 159 Market St.

The store, which held a soft opening Nov. 18, doubled its space after moving from 201 Market St. in the Price Chopper Plaza to its new location, between Taco Bell and Ernie’s Self Serve Car Wash.

“We appreciate the support of the town and village,” said VP of Sales Nathan Teneyck.

The move was made for “more visibility and a “bigger footprint” in the community, said Teneyck.

The larger space will allow the store to showcase its next generation platform which will help collaborate employees with customers in a sit-down setting to discuss “wants, needs and desires” for phones and services.

The store will offer every brand within the Verizon footprint, Teneyck said. Customers can also sign up for plans, get help with their accounts, and set up home telephone systems. Customers can also purchase smart watches and tablets and accessories for their devices.

Construction began in late summer with a target open date of early 2020.

“Construction went so smooth we will be open for Black Friday,” Teneyck said.

A grand opening celebration is slated for Dec. 13-15 with door prizes, specials, food, games and more.

There will be raffles for products, $25 off smart watches, and customers who sign up for a 2-year plan will receive a free tablet.

“We’re really excited Santa will be here,” Teneyck said. He will be at the store Dec. 14 from noon to 4 p.m.

The store will be managed by Mike MacConnell with five people helping to run the store.

Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
