MASSENA – The Greater Massena Chamber of Commerce is looking for volunteers to help out at upcoming events.
Executive Director Michael Gleason said that each year the chamber hosts a variety of community events including Winter Carnival, a golf tournament, the Heritage Festival, Blues Bash, Annual Classic Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show, among others.
Activities will include working at registration, food booths, taking surveys, for as long as the volunteer is available
“It takes a lot of work to not only organize but also to run these events,” Gleason said.
Massena Chamber President Susan Flynn, explains that each year the chamber awards a $500 Scholarship to a deserving Massena Central High School student, and beginning this school year, only applicants who have volunteered to help at Massena Chamber events will be considered.
But they are not looking just for student volunteers, but anyone wishing to volunteer is welcome to contact the chamber at 769-3525 or chamber@massenachamber.com.
“Volunteering for chamber events provides an opportunity for creating friendships, personal growth, leadership development and community pride” she added.
Events coming soon where the chamber will need volunteers are the 15th Annual Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show Aug. 21, the 4th Annual Harvest Festival Sept. 10, the Wildlife Festival Sept. 24, and Santa Comes Downtown on Dec. 3.
