Massena Chamber of Commerce accepting residential, commercial entries for holiday decorating contest

MASSENA – The Greater Massena Chamber of Commerce’s annual Holiday Decorating Contest is open to anyone in town.

Those wishing to enter wishing to enter must contact the chamber office at 769-3525 with name, address and phone number prior to noon on Friday, Dec. 2.

Judging for both the residential and commercial contests will be conducted Dec. 5 to 7 after 5 p.m. 5 pm, so everyone is asked to have their displays lit then.

As in the past, residential contestants will be divided into two geographic locations, entries north of the Grasse River and entries south of the Grasse River. Entries will be judged on originality, use of lighting design, and overall property presentation.

Commercial businesses will be judged in their own contest on originality, use of lighting design, and overall property presentation. The winner of the commercial contest will take possession of a traveling plaque donated by Peets Jewelers.

Winners will be contacted and honored at the December Massena Chamber Business After Hours on Thursday, Dec. 15. The time and location are yet to be determined.

The 2010 Annual Holiday Decorating Contest Winners were: Cheri and Leland Farnsworth, 153 Andrews St., and Julie and Mike Hurlbut, 86 Cougar Point) Special recognition was given to Val Haven Home for Adults at 10 Woodlawn Ave. for their creativity. Frenchie’s Chevrolet, 255 East Orvis St., won the commercial business category.
