OGDENSBURG -- The House of Photography & Imagery opens at 701 Canton St. in the Seaway Shopping Center on June 1 with expanded services.
The business has received a grant of$17,640 from the St. Lawrence County Local Development Corporation for purchase of video production equipment, and for working capital.
HPI will offer wedding videos, professional videos of recording artists, and web/broadcasting/film opportunities. In addition, the new studio will have a “green room” which allows effects or scenes to be added behind the subject in post-production.
Owner David House, Jr. began his professional photography career after graduating from the New York Institute of Photography about two years ago. He offers a full range of custom portrait packages including school and sporting portraits, weddings, pet photography, and DVD scrapbooks. Portrait sittings are available in either the well-equipped studio, the client's home, or outdoors.
House intends to use the new capability to webcast local events and attractions as a gateway to bringing awareness and recognition to our area, hoping to attract more visitors.
In addition to the SLCLDC grant, House said he is grateful to the Small Business Development Center at SUNY Canton for helping with three-year projections.
Among the factors in the decision to make the grant was the fact that the business “will fill a vacant commercial space in Ogdensburg. We are happy to provide David with the opportunity to expand his business into new markets and offer a service not readily available within St. Lawrence County,” said SLCLDC CEO Raymond Fountain.
