CANTON – A field crop pest management training program will be held at the Cooperative Extension Learning Farm in two parts, on two Thursdays, March 1 and 8.
Part I, on Thursday, March 1 will cover integrated pest management (IPM) principals, scouting, insect identification, insect management and disease management.
Part II, on Thursday, March 8 will cover weed identification, weed life cycles, and sprayer operation and calibration.
People can register register with CCE St. Lawrence County, 379-9192. The cost of the training is $30 per person per week. It might qualify for New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Pesticide Credits and Certified Crop Advisor credits (three credits per week are pending approval).
This training is part of the new NNY Crops Management School offered by the Northern NY Dairy Institute made possible with funding from the NY Center for Dairy Excellence and Cornell PRO-DAIRY program. The School is managed by the Cornell Cooperative Extensions of NNY.
