Computer Guys rescue Potsdam Humane Society data

POTSDAM -- Potsdam Humane Society’s old database has a new home thanks to the techs at Computer Guys.

Humane Society Board Member Jane Amelotte asked if they could help her save the old File Maker program, on which she had important donor information. They cheerfully agreed to help.

The Computer Guys donated the labor and the computer to the Potsdam Humane Society. “How fortunate we are to have friends in computer places,” said Humane Society Board President Bonnie Boyd. “This community has another successful business that gives back generously to its citizens.”

With about a month left until completion of the new animal shelter on Madrid Avenue, money is really tight, Boyd says, sop she wanted to publicly thank the folks at the store for helping them out of what was becoming a stressful situation.

The new animal shelter is becoming a reality because of support from many individuals and businesses in the area.

Recently, the Best Western Plus in Canton began sponsoring a “long time resident” dog adoption--possibly one a month. Ashley House in Norwood has a “Glitter Paws” store within their store. One hundred percent of this sale goes directly to PHS. Ashley House is also sponsoring a raffle for a weekend stay at a cottage on Lake Ozonia in August; Andy Vanduyne and 99 Hits help out with a radio show; NCC systems has donated a great deal and kept the phone and computer lines alive during construction; Northern Music and Video has been there with a rock bottom deal on the sound system; Potsdam Agway and LaValle trucking continue to be giving neighbors; and the list goes on.

Community support is now evident, Boyd says, in the new animal facility next to the Potsdam Town Barns.

PHS is beginning a new campaign in which they are asking residents of the many towns they serve to consider an ongoing pledge to help with new programs and operating expenses.

A new link to their website potsdamhumanesociety.org will allow you to make an automatic monthly pledge through PayPal starting at $10 and up.
