North Country This Week
CANTON -- Classy Collectibles, 5933 U.S. Highway 11, will be under new ownership on July 1.
Previous owners Dennis and Susette Kelly sold the business to Tom and Sarah Shirley of Massena.
The Shirleys are first-time business owners who have had aspirations to own a business similar to the one they have now purchased, according to Sarah.
She said she and her husband have had a booth at the store already, as does the Kelly family.
No major changes are expected immediately, however Sarah said there are plans to add small display cabinets for vendors who do not need larger spaces.
Shirley said the previous owners were looking to retire and not have the responsibility of being owners.
“They have been so supportive and have been continued to be involved making the transition easy,” Shirley said.
The store is at maximum capacity as far as vendors go and Shirley said the waiting list is pretty long.
Vendors are offering a wide variety of merchandise, including children’s clothing, toys, and furniture, from couches to dining sets, knick-knacks, antiques, adult clothing, records, jewelry, and more.
The store is in the University Shopping Center and is open daily from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
