POTSDAM -- Celebrating its 29th anniversary, Ashley Furniture HomeStore, formerly Adirondack Furniture, had a drawing recently for a Howard Miller grandfather clock valued at more than $1,000.
The winners were Brent and Erin Alguire from Canton, shown to the left of the clock along with Ashley general manager Bruce Cassida and owner Aimeé Lemieux at right.
John Bartlett opened a small used furniture operation out of his garage in 1982 on the May Road in Potsdam.
The family now operates two Ashley Furniture HomeStores, on the Canton-Potsdam Road and at 28 Andrews St. in Massena, and an Ashley Furniture Outlet Center on East Main Street in Malone.
The business is still family owned and operated. Aimeé Lemieux, John and Linda Bartlett’s daughter, is preparing to take over the company after her parents retire.
Linda Bartlett heads up advertising and management of the Massena store. She joined her husband in the business in 1999 after working for Clarkson University for 16 years.
And they couldn’t function without their general manager Bruce Cassada and the additional staff of warehouse and sales personnel.
Ashley Furniture HomeStores are open Monday through Thursday 9-6, Friday until 8, and Saturday until 5. They are closed on Sundays.
