MORRISTOWN -- July 1 is the always ‘the day’ at Mare’s Wares Pottery on Route 37. It is an amazing day of arts and entertainment hosted by owner Mary Ann Evans and friends, called Art Fest.

The very best of talented North Country artisans, musicians, authors, body workers and more will be celebrated from noon to 8 p.m.

This place has history. This location was once known as a go-kart track and bait and tackle shop owned by the legendary Jim Evans, Mary Ann’s father.

Mare’s Wares is currently known for wheel-thrown pottery parties and a gallery of well known Artisans of the River Valley.

Staring in 2008 the concept of Mare’s Wares Art Fest was one of ‘artistic celebration’ and a welcoming to Canadian neighbors on their Canada Day holiday, which is July 1.

The festival now hosts 50-60 accomplished artisans, arts organizations including TAUNY, St. Lawrence County Arts Council, Fort La Presentation, ongoing raku firing, blacksmith forging, fiber spinning, and more throughout the day.

There will be licensed massage therapists with their massage chairs, a psychic, herbal

remedies, as well as food and beverage vendors. Three wineries will each be hosting a booth this year.

Everyone is welcome and there is no admission charge to get in.
