North Country Children's Museum summer camp begins July 8

POTSDAM — The North Country Children's Museum has seven weeks of summer camp from July 8th to August 23rd. Camps are for children in Grades 1-5. Weekly schedule is Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm. Camps will be held in the Children's Museum's new classroom and in university labs. Cost is $195 per camper with a 10% member discount.   • July 8-12 Zoology Camp — Come learn more about the animals you love! Camp includes visits to University Labs and the Potsdam Humane Society to enrich museum workshops. Each day will focus on a specific animal with accompanying hands-on activities.
  • July 15-19 Chemistry & Engineering Camp — Unlock the wonders of chemical engineering in this camp led by Clarkson University faculty & students. Ignite your curiosity and creativity while learning basic principles of chemistry and engineering in a fun and engaging way. Get ready for a day filled with discovery, experimentation, and endless fun!
  • July 22-26 Mini Med School Science Camp — In this camp, kids will explore fun ideas and activities to learn how to stay healthy by avoiding germs, illness, and disease. A foundation for a healthy life begins with healthy habits and this camp will help foster health and good nutrition. Get a jump-start to med school with this program!
  • July 29- Aug 2 The Art of Magic — Welcome to Hogwarts! You will be placed in a Hogwarts house and create a one-of-a-kind wand to take on your wizarding world adventure! Our wide array of Harry Potter themed challenges and activities will lead to a fun, arts adventure! We’ll explore magic tricks, optical illusions, science experiments, spell writing (poetry), outdoor exploration, and much more as we delve into the Art of Magic!
  • Aug. 5- Aug 9 Costume Construction — Explore the world of wearable art and upcycled fashion design! We will create wearable works of art that extend and transform the body. Each day we will have a "project runway style" challenge as we explore shapes, textures and materials utilizing many fabrication methods including various glues, hand stitching, melting, and sewing. We will explore glow fashion, inflatables, and found objects as wearable art and conclude with a runway show!
  • Aug. 12-16 Don’t Try This At Home! Science — This camp is filled with crazy science experiments that you want to try at home, but can do safely at the museum instead! We’ll handle all the mess and all the materials. Your budding scientist will work with our experienced science educators to explore and experiment!
  • Aug. 19-23 Theater Camp — In this theatre camp, kids will create fascinating fictional stories and events through interactive theatre workshops, hands-on stagecraft activities, and making an interactive performance map of Northern New York. This week of theatre encourages creativity and teamwork, vibrant imagination, storytelling, and lasting memories for your aspiring young performer.
