John G. Timmons, 69, Louisville

LOUISVILLE – John G. Timmons, 69, of State Highway 37, passed away in the comfort of his home on Sunday, April 14, 2024, after a lengthy illness with his family at his side.

John was born February 9, 1955, in Malone, the son of the late John F. and Marie “Minnie” (Blair) Timmons.

He attended schools in Malone and graduated from Franklin Academy. On July 29, 1989, he married Tina Marlow in Moira.

After his high school graduation, he started working for Conrail. He worked with them for two years prior to enlisting in the US Army in 1975. He proudly served his country for 3 years until his honorable discharge on July 3, 1978.

After returning home, he continued his employment with Conrail as a brakeman. He retired in 1997 as a conductor.

John had a great love for woodworking and restoring antique furniture. He enjoyed hunting, fishing – especially with his grandchildren, camping, golfing, and visits to the casino.

John is survived by his loving wife, Tina; his daughter, Misty Timmons of Massena; his chosen son, Matthew (Brittany) LaForce of Chase Mills; another daughter, Tara Smith of Tennessee; a son, Jason Timmons of Arizona; his grandson, Adon Timmons; chosen grandchildren, Connor and Chloe LaForce; additional grandchildren, Timothy Hall, Jillian and Jett Timmons; his sisters, Carolyn Nesbit of Potsdam and Lynn Tremblay of Malone; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by a sister, Joann Nason and his beloved dog, Pooh Bear.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, however there will be no services.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley or a veteran’s organization of one’s choice.
