Health and Fitness Fair raises $7,400 for Trinity Catholic School in Massena

On Friday evening, March 8, and all-day Saturday March 9, the 2nd Annual Health and Fitness Fair, presented by Zumba with Monica, raised a total of $7,400 for Trinity Catholic School.

For more than 10 years (barring COVID years) Monica Boyea has held a fitness event benefitting Trinity Catholic School. The first 8 years were Zumbathons, which were hours of dancing, and included photo ops, inspiring decorations, snacks, raffles, and camaraderie. After the pandemic, she was looking to reinvigorate the event, and decided to expand it to include more fitness types, nutrition, and mental health.

For the past 2 years, Health and Fitness Fair classes have included its signature Zumba class (Latin-inspired dance fitness), but also included yoga, hip hop dance fitness, mental health discussions, kickboxing, nutrition and food, Jiu Jitsu, self-defense, CPR certification, natural remedies, PiYo, diabetes, menopause, as well as vendors offering healthy products. A kid’s health and fitness fair was also added to help encourage healthy movement habits earlier.

Our school is so very thankful to Mrs. Boyea and her committee for organizing this event year after year. We know a lot of work goes into this. We also appreciate each person who had a hand in it, whether they worked behind the scenes, taught a class, made a donation, or attended the event. We’re also grateful to ALCOA, as the Health and Fitness Fair was awarded an ACTION grant.

Mrs. Boyea is a parent of three Trinity Catholic graduates, and a former TCS PE teacher. She now pursues her passion for personal training and senior fitness full time, while still teaching Zumba classes. We’re thankful that she keeps Trinity Catholic in her heart and continues to support our school as she does.
