Gerald F. Tyo, 92, Louisville

LOUISVILLE -- Gerald F. Tyo, age 92, passed away on March 24, 2024, in Stuart Florida.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 11:00 am in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Louisville.

There will be no public calling hours.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Phillips Memorial Home, in Massena.

Gerald was born in Brasher on December 7, 1931, the son of John and Lillian (Sutton) Tyo.

He served honorably in the US Army from 1954-1956.

He married Kathleen Hastings in March 1966.

Gerald was employed for 27 years at Alcoa as a carpenter.

He was a charter member of the Louisville Fire Department.

He and his wife wintered in Florida for the past 29 years, where he enjoyed playing golf. He also played old timers softball on various teams.

He was a member of the AmVets Post #4, American Legion Post #79.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife, Katie, his children: Donald D. and Lise Stearns of Lakeland, FL; Clark H. and Suzanne Stearns of Louisville, NY: Thomas W. and Amy Stearns of Louisville, a son in-law Joseph DiNapoli, six grandchildren: Jared Stearns, Carolee Stearns, Matthew (Cassandra) Stearns, Tricia (Alex) Dahlborg, Lauren (Michael) Waterhouse, and Thomas Stearns., seven great grandchildren: Cathleen, Julian, Lillian, Rylie, Elizabeth, Brooke and Autumn. A sister Catherine LeBeouf of Massena.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Lorraine (Lorri) Stearns DiNapoli, and his brothers: Donald, Keith, Robert, Kenneth, Bernard and Paul.
