Darleen V. “Tiny” (MacMillan) Granger, 96, Massena

MASSENA – Darleen V. “Tiny” (MacMillan) Granger, 96, of East Hatfield Street, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, May 2, 2024 at her home, where has been cared for by her daughter, Lori and her loving family.

Darleen was born and raised in Cornwall, Ontario, the daughter of the late William and Vera (Alguire) MacMillan.  She was an identical twin and second born of 8 children.  She married Joseph R. Granger on June 14, 1947 at St. Columban’s Catholic Church.  He predeceased her in December 2008.

Darleen began her working years as a Bell Telephone operator before her marriage, when she moved to Massena.  She then worked as a seamstress at Warner Brothers and later worked for the Massena Central School system as a cafeteria manager until her retirement.  She was a devoted Catholic, a wonderful mother, aunt, grandmother, and sister.  Through the years, she loved bowling, square dancing, bingo, and golf leagues and her grandchildren’s sporting games.  She played golf well into her 80’s and achieved club champion in her class more than once.

Darleen is survived by her daughters, Anne (James) Loomis and Lori (Stan) Buckshot; her grandchildren, Jeremy (Kelsey), Nathan (Reilly), Chrissy (Patrick), Kiley (Jordan), Kaynen, and Roysen; 8 step grandchildren; her great grandchildren, Rylin, Bradley, and Monroe; and many step great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brothers, Ronald, William, and Simeon MacMillan; her sister-in-law, Martha Orosz, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Ronald on November 21, 2017; her twin Doreen and other sisters, Betty, Peggy and Patsy.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, where friends may call Monday 12-2:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.   Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Massena.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may consider memorial contributions to be made in her memory to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.
