When British and Canadian troops attack Ogdensburg on Saturday, they’ll face Forsyth’s Rifles in the city's streets.

The battle begins at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday Feb. 17 at the corner of Riverside and Franklin St.  and ends at State and Ford St.,  where the original battle took place.

Immediately following the battle there will be Coffee at the Ogdensburg History Museum at

206 Ford Street.

Greg Baran will give a presentation  at 3 p.m. on Medical and Surgical Procedures of the 18th Century at the Ogdensburg History Museum

A ceremonial wreath laying will be held at 10:30 a.m. to honor Sheriff York.

"If you have never attended the Battle of Ogdensburgh, you need to mark your calendar now so you do not miss the opportunity to watch our local reenactors battle the British and Canadian Redcoat invaders as they fight their way through the streets of our community. If you have children or grandchildren, you owe it to them to bring them out to see a reenactment of what really happened during the War of 1812 when our community was attacked from across the frozen St. Lawrence River," Ogdensburg's St. Lawrence County legislator an historian Jim Reagen said in a public statement.

"Too many of us have grown up across St. Lawrence County with no real idea of our community's rich cultural heritage and history. Here's your chance to watch muskets blazing and cannons firing as soldiers fight their way through our city's streets. Thank you to Forsyth's Rifles and the Fort La Presentation Association for organizing this important historical event once again. And thank you to all of the reenactors who will be coming from across New York State and southern Ontario at their own expense to help us celebrate this important event in American and Canadian history."

A second battle will be held at Lighthouse Point Sunday Feb. 18 at 1:30 p.m.
