What's up with the power authority in Massena? Every year more and more of river access is restricted or blocked from use. "Designated" use areas like the town beach and Barnhart continue to raise prices (if they are even open). I even witnessed kids crying on a hot summer day around 6 p.m. when lifeguards went off duty and ordered them out of the river. It seems to me, before the seaway project, Massena residents had many areas on the river to swim, fish, and even camp for free. Now we have to pay to go to the beaches, and many good fishing spots are no longer accessible. I may be wrong, but I think Potsdam, parishville, and Hannawa have free beaches. Why didn't Massena require the power authority to provide free beaches and decent river access for fishing during the re-licencing? Something is very wrong here.
