While I enjoy living in Waddington for the most part, I have some complaints and feel that maybe others in the community have the same complaints and do not know how to go about making changes. My biggest issue is that the water in the village is disgusting. We have water delivered, as do many others in the village. It is quite expensive and with the amount we pay for water/sewer, the tap water should be drinkable. I understand we get annual water reports stating it is safe and that's all well and good, however, it tastes awful! I've tried ice, filter systems and keeping it refridgerated, but I can't get past the taste. Secondly, with portable radios, scanners, and alarm pagers, is the fire whistle absolutely necessary? It wakes up my child at all hours of the night & then we are UP and causes everyone's dogs to go nuts. Can it be turned off in the night hours? Is there a way to shut it off sooner than waiting for the first member to come shut it off? In the night (and winter especially) it can take 5 or more minutes to turn off. I know this may seem like a dumb complaint to some and I have nothing but respect for the fire and rescue departments, so please tell me...what is the real need these days? Don't all members have pagers/radios? Does the whole town need to be awakened when there is a call? Is there a bigger purpose than so the town gossips can know something happened?
