To the irate student who suggests that students are bound to be noisy and that we should try talking to them or else move: We have coexisted with students on our street for nearly 40 years. Some have been rowdy, most are okay. When they were noisy I have talked to them. Often they seemed agreeable but nothing changed. Sometimes calling the police is the only option. I’m not going to get dressed and go out and confront noisy people at two in the morning. I don’t hate students. They are my bread and butter. All I ask is that they remember that they share this village with us residents who also have rights, one of which is to a decent night’s sleep.
