After the recent March 7 snowstorm, and coming upon two school buses on state highway 11B in the middle of a blizzard, I had to ask, is this safe? I could hardly see let alone stop and kids were out by the highway and buses were on the road. I was up at daybreak and could easily tell the roads and driving conditions were not good and were not getting better! Throughout my traveling this morning, I was almost hit twice, and also came upon a stuck school bus. About that time I was thinking, “Here’s your sign!” I usually don’t get too worked up over these types of things, but when people make stupid decisions that endanger the safety of kids, it ticks me off. I understand local weather varies, but I live in the Potsdam school district and woke up to a foot of snow. If my job did not require me to travel I would have stayed home. I hate to think it will take a bus crash or worse yet a child to be injured before Potsdam quits rolling the dice with delays and closures and starts putting the children’s safety first.
