The developer for the proposed student rental property does not deserve a tax abatement.The taxes in this town for the residents are obscene. Why not give abatement to the residents who are your nurses, police officers, teachers, and others who actually keep this town running? By the time the cottage abatement has ended, those cottages are going to be run down shacks that aren’t worth the property they are located on and the board will be complaining about how they detract from the “Potsdam Image.” I beg the board members to think not with their own interests at heart but for the good of the town! Potsdam taxpayers cannot afford another leach growing fat at their expense.
