It is sad that people die from traffic accidents and/or possible homicides. But why are the investigations different when a law officer is involved? Why do I read in the newspapers of reports from law enforcement officials within hours or days of how a deathly accident occurred; but it takes months and maybe years for a final report to be given from these same law enforcement agencies when the accident involves one of its’ own? (Border patrol agent possible homicide in Bombay and state police accident in Knapps Station.) Are the police above the law and afforded more scrutiny during the preliminary investigations? I wonder if they place themselves above the law. I hope not. At this time I still place them in high regard.
